Seven Things You Must Do in an Interview
Aileen Pincus | Business Week
When you are looking to make the Big Leap—the one that puts you closer to the power centers of a business or organization—the interview process will likely be different from what you’ve experienced before. The more senior the person or people you’re interviewing with, the more definite their ideas are likely to be about what they’re looking for. They know that their own continued success depends on hiring the best people.
So how do you prove your readiness for the big leagues? By thinking like a big-league player. This interview will be different from others, but it will be your best chance to impress the decisionmakers, so there are some key points you want to be certain you get across. They are probably talking about the people who walk in and have the attitude I have have worked hard to get here and if you give this job to someone else they didn't earn it and I did. With the trial and error phase I told the interviewer I had great ideals that worked and no one else had the guts to even try.

TrialAndError, this is the kind of whininess the article was referring to. While the points the article makes may be obvious, do we really get and incorporate them? Doing the interview is our job. We don`t need to be hand-held.

This is not specific at all. Most of the points are quite obvious. It would have been more useful to cite some case studies to highlight / contrast these points.

remiboy - I'm surprised you get any job at all. Your English is terrible and you are too lazy to spell correctly. I am a programmer too, so I love to make my job easier, but writing is not one of them...

All seven tips are valid and should be heeded going through the interview stages. In today's impersonal web based selection process, there are over 30 million resumes out there. If you are lucky enough to emerge at the top and generate an interest by a potential employer, you need to be armed to the teeth with knowledge, a positive attitude, and as stated earlier - some moxie to get to the next level of the interview process.
Once in, you need to send the "Right" body language message and create a genuine perception of confidence, poise, and flexibility to get that position that you are after. Remember - the hiring authority is doing their best to match their specific needs with the best applicant who can meet or exceed 88% of the needed skill sets. In other words, hitting a bullet with another bullet.

Not terribly original -- nothing here to argue with. OK for a checklist before going in, but there's nothing here specific enough to land you a job......
