Although this product isn't perfect because it must be connected to your computer and your computer has to be on and running, and you must be connected to the internet for it to work, it does work well and you simply can't beat the price. Once it's running, simply plug in your favorite cordless phone into the MagicJack and that's when the magic begins.

$40 get's you the product and 1 year of free local and long distance within the USA. Each additional year after that is only $20. That's correct. I said $20 per YEAR!

It is so inexpensive I purchased two, one for me and one for my GF in Buenos Aires. You get to select your USA area codes for each. Now we call each other everyday and speak for hours without having to long distance fees, and since we can use it with our existing cordless phone, we are much more comfortable than having to sit next to our computer using a headset, like I use to do with Skype.

The voice quality isn't perfect, and it is also affected by the performance of your computer. My recommendation is not to be doing anything on your computer like burning a DVD or playing a movie while you are using MagicJack to achieve optimal voice clarity and quality. That's why I'm only giving this review 4 stars.

With the service, you also get free voice mail, call forwarding, and local 911. Although I make calls using my MagicJack when I'm at home, I have my service configured to redirect incoming calls to my cellular. There is nothing currently available that comes close to the features of this product for the price. Yes, it could be better, but it also could be more expensive too.

I also like this product. For me you can't beat the price for a home phone, especially because most of us carry a cell now anyway. Also seeing that I have my computer on most of the day anyway and you do have a call forward feature you plan on having your computer off an extended length of time. Oh ya, your voice mail does come to you by email or you can check it from any phone.
