Looking for a better way to create a master image for multiple models of Laptops and Desktops. I understand that UIU (Universal Imaging Utility) will work well with other Imaging software. Or is Win-Image better. Basicaly I need something that will allow me to create a single master image (for Dell's) to be pushed out either through the network multi-cast or DVD. But I need it to detect the PC/Laptop being imaged and know what drivers to load. Also want something that will allow for easy scripting, batch creation and sysprep options. I know the top software listed out on the web are Altiris, Ghost, UIU (which works with other imaging software), RIS and so on. Any thoughts on this? I would also like it to be able to allow for software installs maybe based on selections before the imaging begins. So if I have a master image say with the O/S, Office and other basic apps I need for everyone, then I can select the apps I need to be on certain machines. I know working with zenworks you could do something simular to that based on the login of the user and whatever container they were in. So maybe what I need is not one product but a couple? Anyway any thoughts or Ideas on this would be great. I am looking at something like 20,000 Laptops and PC's.

Thanks

Talk to your Dell contact they have a free solution for this, you just need to have a business account with them. also they can image your machines before you get them into your facility.

Ever tried Acronis? Or make a RIS server and use PIX. Symantec has a program that you can use with PIX as well. I've used all of them and all are very efficent. Acronis being my favorite though.
