Normally I could figure this out on my own, but this has me stumped. I'm runnin an LG DL-DVD/R. Had it for 2 years now. Burned no problem with Nero or iTunes. In the past 6 months, when burning at 48x the last tracks on a CD will contain static, when burning a Data DVD at 16x it will error out. When burning a movie, at 4x I have no problems, when I burn a CD at 12x or lower also no problems. I use Sony CD's and DVD's. Updated the firmware on the Burner. Even reimaged my machine, from an Acronis Backup I made. Problem will not go away, pulled, iTunes and Nero, cleaned the Reg just to be safe. Still have the same issue. Everytfing works fine at low speeds, but at high speed, problem after problem. I didn't have this problem a year ago. I know Sony used to have their media stamped by a company called Taiyo Yuden, as did Fuji, and I never had anything like this. Maybe someone would know, but are they still being made by them. Memorex is stamped by a company called CMC Magnetics, and they use to have a huge failure rate, above 16x.

Any ideas?

Gonna try diff CD's soon. But other than that?

what is the max for the burner?

i would try changing the IDE cable

or get a new one
