I have Sever 2003 installed on virtual pc but can't get an internet connection. It says it can't get a valid IP address. We had an internet connection with the same set up at school but don't remember how. What am I forgetting to do?

Have you tried VMware? It's a much better utility for such.

Typically if you want your virtual machine to be able to use your internet connection, it should use NAT (there are more advanced ways of doing it, but that would be uncommon). Check the settings of the virtual ethernet card and report back. By that I mean the settings in Virtual PC, not the device properties in the virtual server.

It is on NAT and was when I installed Server. When I installed  XP on my PC it wanted to use the 1394 connection which I had to disable and set up a regular connection (had to download drivers from gigabyte). It's acting as if my ISP doesn't recognize virtual pc as a ligit computer. I have tryed eveything I can think of from installing drivers on the Server program to changing all kinds of setting in virtual pc and Server. TY for the suggestion.
