That's interesting...another interesting point I've noticed at school- my classes this quarter started out with 4 women in each (including myself)- now most class days it's me and my carpool gal, except for math, where we've got one CJ gal. The last 3 weeks in each class, I've only seen one of the 2 missing gals show up late and way behind her work to ONE class of the two I attend with her (it was mid-terms).....haven't seen her in the other class for 3 weeks.... What's with that? ah well. just an odd thing I've noticed. not horrible...I just like seeing other women around, since I've been trying to socialize more with other women. (I was the girl that was "one of the guys" growing up. ) I find that most hiring is done by women in HR nowadays, and It's sometimes hard to connect with them when most of my social experiences are being around guys or being around other girls who are "one of the guys". I don't like gossip girl, I don't watch soaps, I hardly ever wear make up and when I do it's usually minimal, and I don't believe in spending all my bill money on "fluff" or drinks at the bar...I don't get manicures or pedicures, I've never had a "spa day" in my life, and I color my hair at home with a $10 box of hair dye. So...sometimes office gals are hard to connect with.

I can definitely relate. I am constantly breaking a nail at work so a manicure would be a waste of time and money. I can definitely be one of the guys, but I also enjoy being one of the girls. I'm not into gossip and drama but I have found that as I get older there is less of both, at least with the women I know. Good luck with your schooling. I hope the lack of women in your classes doesn't discourage you. |
