You have volunteered to work on the Web site of your local library. The library plans to develop an online catalog of books that can be reserved by library patrons from their home computers via the internet. Many of these patrons are senior citizens. What are some of the screen design issues that should be taken into

I would get the advise from a few senior citizens themselves.  But make things as simple as possible.  Make it very clear on what to do and where to go to reserve a book.

I would get a datbase made for all the books, then when one is reserved you can add the check out message to the database. Therefore when someone wants that book, it is easily checked to see if it is available,

As stated before make it as simple as possible, a good example if using Access is to setup an interface using a Switchboard. I haven't used Access in a long time, but a Switchboard allows users to navigate through certain information by linking whatever it may be, forms, reports, etc... to a button, which can be labeled with a title that can be self explanitory if captioned properly. Ex) "Author Search"(IN BOLD) with a hover caption explaning it as an alphabetical listing, or "Books by Title". If anything, looking at the example for Switchboards listed in the Access Help could give you a few ideas regarding design.

Like I said it was at least four years ago since I've used Access, but from what I remember the Help Files provided some ideas relative to the interface used to allow the user to navigate the database.
